Version 3.1.4 | July 13, 2006

  • Version 3.1.4 is essentially the same as version 3.1 for After Effects users (the 3.1.4 update is for combustion users)

Version 3.1 | March 24, 2006

  • Adds support for 32 bit HDR (unclamped floating point) processing for After Effect 7 users
  • New temporal smoothing method for situations where the spline animation is smooth, but the resulting warp or morph from RE:Flex is not. This option smooths out any jitters (as a result, this setting can give substantially different results depending on whether it is set On or not).
  • Better auto-align behavior that is less jittery.
  • After Effects 7 users on Macintosh will see a significant improvement on G5 CPUs running Mac OS 10.4 (Tiger).
  • On the Macintosh, make sure to delete the previous set of plugins for Twixtor in your plugins folder, because the name of the plugin files have been changed

Version 3.0.2 | July 27, 2005

  • Initial RE:FLex 3 release for After Effects.
  • New anti-aliasing setting that uses less memory (but at the expense of speed). In the new method antialising is performed by repeated offset renders, with buffer accumulation. The old method is still available to users.
  • Auto-align feature uses the improved Twixtor 4.5 tracking which provides more precise results than with previous versions of RE:Flex.
  • The addition of mipmapping. Now RE:Flex can be set to give better filtering results when parts of an image a squished by a factor of 2 or more.

  • Fixed a bug where "Match Vertices" was ignored in RE:Flex Warp.

Version 2.3.1 | December 23, 2003

  • Fixed a bug if "Use Global Percent %" was turned off in Morph or Motion Morph plugins. The plugins of the previous version (2.3) could create erroneous frames, or worse, could crash.

Version 2.3 | December 17, 2003

  • Multiprocessor support added. Users will see a significant speedup on multiprocessor machines. Due to the nature of the warping algorithms, users will see the most benefit of MP support on an MP machine when "Accumulate Folds" for RE:Flex is checked.
  • G5 optimization added for Mac versions of the products. Updates for Mac versions only available for Mac OS X.
  • Fixed a bug that caused RE:Flex to crash when spline vertices were too close to each other.

Version 2.0.3 | January 6, 2003

  • Fixed a bug where boundaries weren't being used in the Morph and Motion Morph plugins, even if set up properly.
  • Fixed a bug in the morph plugin that caused it to crash when interacting with the morph by dragging or adding new mask points, or interrupting the render process by clicking with the mouse anywhere from within After Effects.
  • More interactivity support when using Motion Morph.

Version 2.0.2 | September 27, 2002

  • Better tracking when using "Auto-Align" in "Best" quality mode... of course, at the expense of using more memory and taking a bit longer). However, this change should help obviate the need for use of the "Ultra" quaility.
  • Fixed a bug that occasionally created early "Out Of Memory" conditions on Windows, especially when rendering to disk.
  • Fixed a bug that occasionally crashed AE under Mac OS.

Version 2.0.1 | July 8, 2002

  • Fixed a bug that was introduced in RE:Flex Warp 2.0.
  • RE:Flex Warp 2.0 warped the image only using the last pair of all the mask pairs supplied. In 2.0.1 all supplied mask pairs are once again used for warping.

Version 2.0 | June 28, 2002

What's different? Lot's of things, so you might want to keep your 1.2 plugin around. Also, you'll want to read the new manual, because many of the new features are implemented in non-obvious manners.

In particular, the following things are new in 2.0:

  • Auto align. After using your hand matched masks, RE:Flex Morph uses the tracking available in Twixtor to align the non-handmatched parts of the image. Pretty nifty, huh? Of course this feature will increase rendering times.
  • Vertex matching. Can you turn vertex matching on/off for each shape? NO (You can't have everything :-) ). However you can turn on/off vertex matching for all masks with a checkbox in the plugin.
  • The warping algorithm has changed quite a bit, so that warping extends farther across an image than in 1.0+. This was supposed to be how 1.0+ was to work, but we didn't find the "problem" in our algorithms until working on the plugin for the 2.0 release. This fix in the warping algorithm should make it so that you really never have to work in "Ultra" quality mode.
  • Variable dissolve rates are now available PER-MASK.
  • Variable rates of shape inbetweening are now available PER-MASK.
  • A feature to smartly blend between images when one tears away from the edges in order to make images match up. Previously, to avoid fading areas during the morph you had to hold the edges image in place. This feature is explained in detail in the manual.
  • Addition of a RE:Flex Motion Morph plugin, so that morphing between 2 sequences is much easier than before. The Motion Morph plugin also includes the auto-align and smart blending features that appear in the Morph plugin.

Version 1.2 | May 30, 2002

  • Fixed a bug that caused After Effects to think it has run out of memory. This bug is most often scene during rendering to disk, but can also show up when working interactively or when rendering RAM previews.
  • Changed memory requirements when "Accumulate Foldovers" is checked. This means RE:Flex uses up to 50% less memory when working in 8 bits per channel, and up to 33% less memory when working in 16bpc.

Version 1.1.1 | March 18, 2002

  • Fixed a bug that caused the plugin set to erroneously render blank frames.

Version 1.1 | February 25, 2002

  • Fixed a bug that caused the plugin set to erroneously render blank frames.
  • Fixed a bug that caused the plugin set to process images with partial alpha (non-zero and non-full alpha) improperly.
  • Improved performance when anti-aliasing.
  • Improved performance when significant portions of the picture are completely transparent.

Version 1.0.1 | January 24, 2002

  • Fixed a bug that caused RE:Flex Morph and RE:Flex Warp to erroneously render black frames.
  • Fixed a bug that caused RE:Flex Morph and RE:Flex Warp to erroneously abort a render.
